In Gambia, the livestock sector faces significant challenges due to the high saline content in coastal air and intense seasonal rainfall. Traditional wooden posts and low-grade cattle fence wire often succumb to rapid corrosion, leading to frequent replacements and loss of livestock.
Currently, many farmers are transitioning from improvised barriers to standardized livestock fence systems. However, there is a critical gap in the market for high-zinc coating specifications that can survive the humid Gambian climate without rusting within two years.
The demand for chain link fence is also rising in urban and peri-urban areas of Banjul and Serekunda, where secure perimeter demarcation is essential for both residential and small-scale commercial farming ventures.
